    Jan and Joël Martel were French sculptors born in 1896. They were identical twin brothers known for their ornamental sculptures, statues, monuments, and fountains in the Art Deco and Cubist styles. They were founding members of Union des Artistes Modernes and exhibited their works in various Paris exhibitions. The brothers collaborated on many pieces, signing them as Martel or J.J. Martel. Their works can be found in Paris and other parts of France, including the Claude Debussy monument. They were commissioned to create modernist aluminum sculptures for the Colonial Exhibition in 1931.
