    Jan Ezram Kotowski was born in 1885 and was a painter and draftsman. He was educated at the Academy of Fine Arts under the direction of Joseph and Leon Unierzyski Wyczólkowski (1902-1911). During his studies he was an award-winner, winning especially for composition. In 1908 he received a scholarship for three years and went to Paris. He visited London and Belgium. After returning home, he settled in Warsaw. He was a member of the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts (in 1913, received a scholarship), also he belonged to the group "Pro Arte" and the Association of Polish Artists (from 1927), and after the war he belonged to the Group of Artists Encouragement.
