    Jan van de Velde III was a Dutch painter born in Haarlem in 1620. He is known for his still life paintings and is thought to have studied with his father, Jan van de Velde II. He had two marriages registered in Amsterdam in 1643 and 1656, and is believed to have lived the rest of his life in Amsterdam, although there were several artists with the same name in the city at the time. Van de Velde III died in 1662, the year of his last dated painting and the recorded date of burial of a painter by that name in Enkhuizen, just north of Amsterdam.
