  • Biography

Jean Boris Lacroix (1902-1984) was the illegitimate son of Grand Duke Boris Vladimirovich of Russia, a grandson of Czar Alexander II of Russia and a first cousin of Czar Nicholas II. He was born in France and raised in his mother's family.

Lacroix's mother, Jeanne, had died before the 1920s, and was buried in Père Lachaise cemetery. The Grand Duke visited her grave once he came to live in France, and very often would see his son, Jean, before the outbreak of WWII. ???

Jean Lacroix began his career in 1920 when he entered the workshop of Paul Dumas. He completed his training by working from 1925 to 1930 as a drawing professional and furniture designer for the various houses of designer Madeleine Vionnet.
