    Jean Messagier is a painter, engraver and French sculptor. In 1947 he had his first solo exhibition in Paris, Gallery Arc-en-Ciel. From 1945 to 1949, the artist had shown himself under the influence of Pablo Picasso and Francois Desnoyers who was his teacher at the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris.

    Messagier was revealed again to the public during the exhibition organized by Charles Estienne at the Gallery of Babylon in 1952 under the title The New School of Paris.

    The following year, Messagier deliberately breaks with post-cubism expressionist. He then presses Jean Fautrier and Pierre Tal-Coat to develop a personal vision in which he restores "the light ... a different light from that of the Impressi...
