    Jean-Aime Saint-Gyr Girier (1837 - 1911/12) was born in Lyon. He was a painter. He worked only from nature, received some instructions from Chenu and Carraud. He debuted at the Salon de Lyon in 1863, with a charcoal "Marshes Choreaux."

    From 1870, he regularly exhibited in Lyon and Paris, mostly landscapes of ponds and birch. Since 1903, he also exhibited drawings in sepia and grisaille paintings. His works are represented in the Museum of Lyon (Mare in a birch wood), Saint-Etienne, Chalon, Macon and the Rhône Prefecture (View of Lyon).
