    Johann Jacob II Dorner (1775-1852) continued the artistic career of his father, Johann Jacob I Dorner, who trained him from 1781. Specialized in landscapes, he traveled to Paris in 1802, passing through Austria and Switzerland. In 1803 Dorner started to work as a restorer and from 1808 as a consultant in Munich.

    Notwithstanding a chronic eye disease, Dorner started a second creative period from 1822 and also became an honorary member of the Munich Art Academy. His artistic output included paintings, drawings and prints and rates as a characteristic example of the landscape painters, active in Munich.
