    Johannes Hänsch was an important portraitist. In his lifetime, he completed sculpture training, and higher education. Since 1903 he had taken part in the Great German Art Exhibition, and had continued each year.

    His landscape motifs were painted mostly in the area surrounding Berlin, on the River Spree and Havel country. He painted plein air in the style of French Impressionism.

He initially studied sculpture before transitioning to painting and studying at the Berlin Academy under Prozess, Bracht, and Kallmorgen. He later became a master student of A. Hertel. HÄNSCH is known for his landscape paintings and he flourished in the 20th century
