    John Barger blends a style of impressionism and naturalism to create landscapes intended to bring out the majesty of his subjects and to invite the viewer to experience the play between color and light of what the artist regards as an exquisite moment in time.

    John Barger credits his evolution as an artist to the French impressionist Claude Monet, American master George Inness, and Texas artist Porfirio Salinas.

    A.C. Cook, noted historian of early Texas art and owner of "The Hock Shop Collection" says of John Barger, "I have known John Barger for many years; I consider him to be without a doubt the finest contemporary Texas landscape artist."
