    The following, submitted November 2004, is from the artist.

    A painter of landscapes and figurative works, emphasizing light and shadows, John Cox strives to create mood and emotion on his canvases. For over thirty years, he has traveled extensively to personally experience the actual locations of his works

    Cox became fascinated with art at an early age through classic illustrations in books and magazines. Illustrators such as N.C.Wyeth, Norman Rockwell and most especially Tom Lovell, forged his interest in art. However, Cox did not seriously pursue art until he was in his mid thirties because he was in the U.S. Navy for four years and also traveled world wide.
