    John Gawne (1952-)

    A painter of the western landscape and Native Americans, Gawne graduated from Notre Dame University with a degree in accounting and subsequently worked as an accountant and then as a stockbroker at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. In the early 1990s his drawings attracted the attention of collectors, and he soon devoted himself full-time to his art.

    Born in Chicago in 1952, he lives with his family in Oak Park, Illinois and takes several trips to the west, for new material and inspiration.

    He is the 2007 C.M.Russell Museum CEO Award winner and has been invited back for several years, including 2010.
