    English painter, graphic artist and writer (1805 Plymouth - 1876), nephew of Samuel Prout. Member of the New Society of Painters of watercolors. Emigrated to Sydney in 1840. Taught there and also worked freelance.

    John Skinner Prout emigrated to Australia in 1840 and set up the JSP Australian Lithographic Establishment. He moved to Tasmania in 1844 and returned to England in 1848.

    On his return he worked in Bristol becoming a friend of William Muller's and a founder member of the Bristol Sketching Club.
