The artist had a long and prolific career, since his first paintings date from 1751 and the last of 1801. He was a founding member and professor of the Academy of Bellas Artes de San Carlos, which was inaugurated in 1784.
Some of his principal works were the Adoration of the Kings of the sacristy of the temple of San Marcos in Aguascalientes, and the portrait of Sister Maria Ignacia de la Sangre de Cristo, The National Museum of History.
