    José Hernández was a Spanish artist. He is known for his fantastic art, painting, drawing, engraving, and scenography. His work underwent a formal purification in the 1980s, where he explored the plasticity of metaphysical natures full of enigma. He illustrated the works of Buñuel, James Joyce, Rimbaud, Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer, and Akutagawa, as well as designed scenery and costumes for works by García Lorca, Calderón de la Barca, Cervantes, Francisco Nieva, and Carlos Saura. He held personal exhibitions and took part in international fairs in Spain, Paris, Brussels, Tokyo, and other cities.
