    Jose Luis Pellicer Y Fener was a draftsman and painter who trained with Ramón Martí Alsina and completed his studies in Rome. He was known for combining painting with graphic production for press publications, illustrating novels, making political cartoons, and working as a war chronicler and correspondent for various illustrated publications. Pellicer was appointed a member of the Academy of Fine Arts of Barcelona in 1894. His works can be found in collections such as the Prado Museum (work on deposit at the MACBA) and the National Art Museum of Catalonia. He was also a contributor to the French publication "Le Monde Illustré."
