    José María Marqués García, son and disciple of Manuel Marqués Carles, was a Spanish artist known for his landscape, portrait, and religious paintings. He received his training at the La Lonja School in Barcelona and continued his studies in Madrid, Paris, and Rome. Marqués García traveled extensively through Spain, Italy, Switzerland, and Holland, exhibiting his works in solo and group exhibitions. He participated in various competitions and exhibitions, including the Universal Exhibition of Barcelona in 1888 and the International Exhibition of London in 1898, where he won a gold medal.
