    José Moreno Villa reinterprets in this canvas the theme of the three Graces through a clearly contemporary optic, although the three protagonists embrace each other forming a circle, as they do in Renaissance paintings and in some ancient sculptures. The artist seeks dynamism and rhythm obtained from the juxtaposition of nuanced shapes and colours, all arranged in a balanced and studied composition, vibrant and eloquent.

    A multidisciplinary artist belonging to the Generation of 1927, José Moreno Villa was a poet, columnist, critic, art historian, draughtsman and painter, and during the Second Spanish Republic he was director of the National Palace Archive.
