José María Rodríguez de Losada was a Spanish artist who developed his pictorial activity in Jerez de la Frontera. He cultivated history painting, portraiture, and genre painting, and his work is markedly influenced by Romanticism. He was born in an unknown year and died in an unknown year. His artistic style shows a loose, scrubbed, sometimes careless and summary brushstroke, and his technique was rejected by critics at the time. He participated in several National Fine Arts Exhibitions and received several awards and medals. His work can be seen in the Museo del Prado and the Museo Provincial de Cádiz, as well as in other public and private art collections.
