    José Serra y Porson, a Spanish painter, introduced the "tableautin" genre in Spain and was a professor at the School of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi in Barcelona. He trained in Rome and Madrid before studying under Ernest Meissonier in Paris. Serra y Porson won awards for his detailed and anecdotal paintings, including the third medal at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts in Madrid in 1864. His works can be found in the Prado Museum, MACBA in Barcelona, and the Royal Catalan Academy of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi.
