José Costa, a draughtsman and caricaturist, was formed in the School of Fine Arts of Palma. After settling in Barcelona, he collaborated with main magazines of the time, publishing caricatures and drawings. He frequented Els Quatre Gats, published books of drawings, and collaborated with foreign magazines. Costa's legacy includes the creation of a drawing award in his name after his death, and in 2005, he was posthumously awarded the Gold Medal by the Consell de Mallorca. His works are currently represented in various collections, including the Municipal Historical Archive, Círculo de Bellas Artes de Mallorca, and the Sa Nostra collection, among others, both public and private.
