    Joseph Jarema

    He studied with Jacek Malczewski at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and with Józef Pankiewicz in Paris. After returning to Krakow in 1931, he began collaborating with the illustrated monthly "Glos Plastyków." He was the founder of the avant-garde Cricot Theatre, active in Krakow from 1933 to 1939. Jarema's extensive theatrical activities included artistic direction, directing, acting, creating performances, and designing sets – including for the Slowacki Theatre and the Bagatela Theatre. The artist's career was interrupted by the war, during which he fought with Polish troops in Italy.
