    Julio Borrell was a Spanish painter and son of Pere Borrell del Caso. He was trained at the Sant Jordi School of Fine Arts in Barcelona and was influenced by the Nazarenes Claudio Lorenzale and Pablo Milà i Fontanals. Borrell participated in many official exhibitions in Barcelona and Madrid, and was awarded with honorable mention in 1897.

    He was known for his paintings of the classic Spanish maja, women with a mantilla and comb, and his works include "El viatico al Liceo", "Lavapiés on Maundy Thursday", and "Real weddings". Borrell also did decorative painting, making religious murals for the church of San Francisco in Buenos Aires and the dome of the Basilica de la Merced in Barcelona.
