    Eduard Ludwig Julius Theodor Weyde was a German painter born in 1822 in Berlin. He was the son and pupil of the Berlin portrait and genre painter Theodor Weyde. Eduard first studied sculpture with Albert Wolff at the Berlin Academy in 1835-40/41. He undertook study trips to Dresden, Venice, and Munich in 1843-47 and studied at the Munich Academy at the end of 1843. From 1847, he was a studio pupil of Karel Ferdinand Vennemann in Antwerp and a pupil of Paul Delaroche and Horace Vernet in Paris in 1848. As a result of the revolution in 1848, he returned to Berlin. In the 1850s, he undertook various study trips, such as 1850 to the Salzburg Alps and 1853 to Austria, Italy, and Istria (Pula).
