In the following year he became lecturer at the Hamburg Kunstgewerbeschule, and in 1926 he became professor at the Landeskunstschule. Almost his entire painted oeuvre was destroyed in the bombing of Hamburg in 1943; as a consequence the artist moved to the countryside.
