About Karl Gerber

  • Biography

Karl Gerber was a Swiss painter who flourished in the 20th century. He attended the Lovis Corinth painting academy in Berlin in 1930 and was part of the "Circolo Verbano" in Ronco sopra Ascona from 1945 to 1954. Gerber's work mainly includes still lifes, portraits, and landscapes, particularly from the Zweisimmen region in the Bernese Oberland and Ticino. Influenced by Vincent van Gogh and his fellow painters from Ronches, Gerber developed a "colorful and impulsive" mode of expression in his art.
