    Karl Schenk began his artistic career at the beginning of the 1920s with the sculptor Karl Hänny. He later moved to the studio of Ernst Dürig and took drawing lessons with Gottfried Strasser in Bern. A scholarship enabled him to study in 1933-34 Paris, then he moved to Niederwangen. In the following decades he received numerous orders for construction, gardening, Grabmal- and free-standing sculptures. In addition, he created a name for himself as a painter of genre-like scenes with children at play.
