It was not until 1929 that Diehn-Bitt took up her artistic training and studied until 1932 at Simonson-Castelli's private academy with Woldemar Winkler in Dresden. This later remembers his pupil: "Again and again she was interested in the human charisma, from which she hoped to elicit expanded truths. It was not until 1929 that Diehn-Bitt took up her artistic training and studied until 1932 at Simonson-Castelli's private academy with Woldemar Winkler in Dresden. This later remembers his pupil: "Again and again she was interested in the human charisma, from which she hoped to elicit expanded truths. [...] In her own way she was looking for solutions to the old and always new problem to look at the scenery, with the certainty of only finding fear and horror." Diehn-Bitt was also extraordinarily clever, self-confident and emancipated, in its habitus comparable to "the Laurencin" and the sculptor Renée Sintenis (Winkler in a letter to Dieter Hubert dated March 28, 1982).
