    The following biography was gathered from Keou Nishimura’s museum (Musee Keou Nishimura, in Kyowa, Japan).

    Born 1909. Died: 2000. Active in Japan and France

    Nishimura was born in Kyowa in 1909. In 1929 he enrolled in the Tokyo Fine Arts School and studied under Takeji Fukushima. In 1943 he exhibited at the Ministry of Education and Culture Exhibition in Tokyo, with commendation given to one of his works entitled Doji (Little Girl).

    In 1951 the artist moved to Paris where he had numerous exhibits throughout the mid to late1950s, including at Galerie Bernheim-Jeune and Galerie Marcel Bernheim. In 1975 he was awarded the Grand Prix Humanitaire De France, and in 1976, the Palm d' Or.
