    Kinosuke Ebihara was born on September 13, 1904, in Kagoshima, Japan, and died on September 19, 1970, in Paris, France. Ebihara was a Japanese painter whose career bridged Eastern and Western traditions, contributing to the international modernist movement through his involvement with the École de Paris.

    Ebihara studied under Ikuma Arishima and attended the Kawabata Art School in Tokyo. In 1923, he moved to Paris, where he sought out the mentorship of Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita, gaining access to avant-garde circles and exhibiting at the Salon de l’Escalier. His early success led to a solo exhibition in New York in 1928.
