About Kwame Almighty God Akoto

  • Biography

Born in Kumasi, Ghana in 1950, Kwame Akoto (Almighty God)'s professional career began at fifteen with two local painters who taught him to paint signs and decorate taxis and lorries. This influence can be seen in later works with the frequent use of lettering and text. The artist set up his own workshop in the mid-seventies in one of the most crowded and chaotic parts of Kumasi. In this same period Kwame Akoto embraced religion in the form of Christianity. He joined a Pentecostal sect known as the House of Faith Ministries and became a fervent preacher as well as a renowned healer. Kwame Akoto then began to call himself Almighty God, the name with which he signs all his works. International publications and African and European schohttp://theauctionroom.com/auctions/9...
