    Artist Ladi Kwali was born around 1925.

    Ladi Kwali was a Gwari potter, who designed domestic and functional pots through traditional coiling, pinching and beating clay; distinctively decorated with figurative and geometric motifs - lizards, birds and insects.

    She joined the Abuja Pottery Training Centre in Nigeria, established in 1951 by Michael Cardew, where she developed techniques in the use of the potter's wheel, glazing and kiln firing.

    Ladi Kwali exhibited at Berkeley Galleries in London (1958 and 1962) and Galerie La Borne, Paris.

    She demonstrated Gwari pottery techniques during tours to Europe and America with Michael Cardew.
