    Lealand Gustavson, born in 1894, was a practitioner of fine and commercial art and being prolific and contributing to leading publications of his day, he was a member of the Society of Illustrators. He studied in New York at The Grand Central School of Art where his primary teacher was Harvey Dunn, painter and illustrator.

    Gustavson settled in Westport, Connecticut. He worked in New York City where he received commissions to produce art for McCall's and The Saturday Evening Post.

    He had a reputation for being a flexible artist, able to adapt to most any situation. He rendered a series of six pictures, later made into popular prints, for a book titled Important Moments in...
