Wang Ling was born in Wuhan, Hubei Province in 1974. He graduated from affiliated school of Hubei Fine Arts College in 1993. In 1997 he graduated from Oil Painting Department in Hubei Oil Painting Institute, getting Bachelor’s degree on literature. He graduated from Fine Arts Department in South China Normal University in 2003, receiving Master’s degree on literature.
