    Lino Enea Spilimbergo, son of Italian immigrants, initially studied art at the Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires. In 1925 he traveled through Italy, where he was particularly impressed by the countless famous frescoes. He then lived in Paris and took lessons from André Lhote. Together with Argentine artists, Spilimbergo founds the so-called “Paris Group” here.

    He was also involved in the First University Salon of La Plata in 1926, the aim of which was to exhibit Argentine art in various European cities, including Madrid, Rome and Venice. Spilimbergo returned to Argentina with his French wife Germaine in 1928 and settled in Las Lomitas in the province of San Juan. The landscape there inspires him to many of his works....
