About Lois Lane

    Painter Lois Lane was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1948. Because of her participation in 1979 in the Whitney Museum of American Art's "New Image Painting" exhibition, Lane's work has been labeled as such.

    She obtained her B.F.A. degree in 1969 from the Philadelphia College of Art, Pennsylvania, and her M.F.A. degree in 1971 from Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut. In 1968, Lane attended the Yale-Norfolk Summer School of Art and Music.

    Lane was awarded, in 1977, a New York State Council on the Arts Creative Public Service grant, and, in 1978, one from the National Endowment for the Arts.

    Her primary gallery in New York City has been the Willard Gallery, where she exhibited in 1977, 1979, 1980 and 1983. She...
