    Louis Chalon was born in 1866.

    After studying painting with Jules-Joseph Lefebvre and Gustave Boulanger at the Académie Julian in Paris, Louis Chalon began his career as a painter and illustrator.

    From 1880 to 1911 he exhibited his classically inspired paintings regularly at the salons of the Société des Artistes Français in Paris.

    Chalon preferred painting mythological scenes, which the artist placed in cleverly arranged landscapes.

    He was also a successful book illustrator and worked for the art publisher Arthur Goldscheider, among others.

    In 1889 and 1900 he took part in the world exhibitions in Paris and received honorable mentions. Around 1900 he became known for his drawings in newspapers ...
