    Louis François Lachat was a French landscape painter born in Paris. He studied under Léon Broquet and Emile Octave Guillonnet and exhibited for the first time at the Salon des Indépendants in 1906.

    Lachat was renowned for his landscapes around Paris and the mountains of Savoy. He was mobilized during the Great War and was wounded. In 1919, he participated in the pro-war exhibition organized by the Société des Artistes Français and the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts.

    In 1933, Lachat was appointed director-curator of the Annecy Museum where he modernized and updated the museum's methods and collections. After the outbreak of World War II, he was dismissed from his position in 1941 by the Vichy regime authorities for his ...
