He became a friend of Gauguin, who invited him to participate in the Exhibition of the Impressionists and painters Synthetists Volpini coffee in 1889. Roy was also hired by Gauguin to pull impressions off Gauguins Noa Noa woodcuts for an alternative look to Gauguins’ own earlier prints. Besides his painting and professional printing business, Roy also contributed to the magazine the l’Ymagier and was an art critic in the Mercure de France magazine. [DES-11/15]....
