Nicolaidou was born in Limassol, Cyprus in 1909. Upon high-school graduation she enrolled at ABC School in Paris, receiving painting lessons by correspondence for a year. In 1929 she became the first Cypriot woman to study abroad at the Colarossi Academy in Paris for a year. She then was accepted at the Ecole nationale Superieure des Bauex-Arts, at the famous atelier of professor Loucien Simon. Upon her graduation she returned to Cyprus and had her first personal exhibition in April 1933 at the Papdopoulos Mansion, Nicosia, but had a poor response from the Cyprus public. In 1937 she left Cyprus for London, where her older sister had settled. In 1939 she participated in a group exhibition with well known artists, and her work made quite an impression. After her marriage to shipowner Ioannis Vassiliou she gradualy witdrew from artistic activities.
