  • Biography

Ludek Marold was an illustrator and painter who established himself in Paris during the fin de siècle period. He was known for his exceptional mediation of visuality and his ambitions beyond illustration. Marold returned to Prague after successful years in Paris and received a commission to create a large-scale panorama of the Battle of Lipan, which became his swan song. His known oils were sparse, with rediscovered works depicting Parisian scenes. Marold's artwork mainly focused on genre scenes featuring fashionable Parisian men and women.
