Ludovico Cavaleri conceived his paintings with imagination and sketched them by elaborating the chosen subject down to the details with intimate dedication. However, his landscapes and marinas were not invented: he lived them, observing the landscapes for a long time until turning them into pictorial reality. In his works we do not find the minute and the graphic or descriptive details that we can find in some of his contemporaries, but a real human interpretation.
