    Ludwig Gabriel Schrieber was a German artist who initially trained as a painter but began sculpting at the age of 34 while in a military hospital. He was awarded the Cornelius Prize for sculpture by the city of Düsseldorf in 1950. Schrieber's work focused on the female full figure and isolated head, with his later cast of a wooden model being the only lying head in his oeuvre. He was significantly influenced by the works of Constantin Brâncu?i and Amedeo Modigliani, and his stylized sculptures featured geometric bodies for the mouth, nose, and eyes, with flat hair and a horizontal top to the face. Schrieber's cast has a homogeneous patina and is considered magnificent
