Luis Strempler was born in 1928 in Mexico City. His career as a painter began at a young age, when he attended the Academy of San Carlos with a minimum scholarship to take some drawing classes in the morning. Also, he took some courses at the National School of Plastic Arts, which served to forge his artistic training in drawing and modeling, which allowed him to experiment later with muralism. Nevertheless, his greatest artistic influence arose with Dr. Atl, who is said to have exchanged experiences on techniques and artistic materials.
