About Lyman Anderson

  • Biography

    An illustrator of action genre, he earned recognition when spot illustrations he did for an insurance company ad were accepted for exhibition at the New York Art Director's Club annual show. His paintings were huge and bright in color and dominated the show.

    From that time, his clients have included Pepsi Cola, Vitalis, New York Life Insurance Company, "The Saturday Evening Post," and "Women's Home Companion."

    He was born in Chicago and graduated there from the Art Institute. He then attended the Grand Central School of Art in New York City where he studied with Pruett Carter, Walter Biggs, Harvey Dunn, Naum Los, and Wayman Adams. Early in his illustration career, he did a syndicated comic strip for King Features....
