    Magnus Thulstrup Bagge was from 1850 part of the Norwegian circle of painters at the Dusseldorf school, surrounding Hans Fredrik Gude and Adolf Tidemand.

    A painting depicts impressions from his study trips to Switzerland and Scandinavia, Valdres and Telemark in particular.

    With his poetic mountain and forest landscapes he also participated successfully at the Paris world exhibition in 1855.
