About Maja van Hall

    Maja Van Hall, sculptor in abstact styles of symbolic figurative bronzes, was born in Voorburg, Holland, the daughter of Elly Richard, painter, and Bernard Blom, engineer. She attended the Montessori Lyceum in Rotterdam and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague (1954-1957). Her studies were focused primarily on classical subjects and methods of sculpture.

    She married Eylard van Hall, who became Professor of Obstetricks and Gynacology at the Leiden University Medical Center, and the couple had three children. In 1969, the family spent a year in Washington DC, where Maja van Hall studied at the Corcoran Gallery.
