    Mansoureh Hosseini was born in 1926 to an affluent Iranian family in Tehran -Iran. Upon graduating from high school in 1944, she entered the University of Tehran's department of Fine Art. After graduation in 1948, she began teaching in a newly founded Tehran school of decorative art.

    In 1954, Mansoureh, like many of future contemporary Iranian artists, left Iran to pursue her studies in Rome, Italy. She attended the Academi di Belle Arti in Rome. In 1956, her work and that of a few other Iranian artists were selected for the Venice Biennial XXVIII. In 1957 she had her first solo exhibition in Rome. In 1958, her works were submitted to Tehran Biennial, and she received the outstanding painting award.
