    Manuel Rodríguez de Guzmán was a Spanish painter from Seville who flourished in the mid-19th century. He specialized in Andalusian folkloric and genre scenes, and began his training at the Academy of Fine Arts of Santa Isabel de Hungría in Seville under the direction of José Domínguez Bécquer. He later moved to Madrid in 1854 with the intention of working as a court painter, and submitted a proposal to Isabel II to create a wide pictorial series that included the different festivals, fairs and pilgrimages that were celebrated in Spain.
