    Maria Ritter was a Polish painter and sculptor who was also known for her social activities. She studied philosophy and history of art at the Jagiellonian University and later at the Academy of Fine Arts with several notable professors. She also studied in Paris with Ferdinand Léger and Otto Friesch. After World War II, she helped establish a branch of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers in her hometown of Nowy Sacz and became involved in local government and educational commissions. She was also a member of the Polish Committee for the Defenders of Peace. Ritter's artistic style evolved from realism and impressionism to focus on color and composition construction.
