    Marie Lucie Nessi, the French artist, was born in 1910. In 1932 Marie Lucie Nessi married Jean Valtat, the son of Louis Valtat, best known for his Post-Modern paintings. Valtat encouraged his daughter-in-law to paint while she attended the Académie de La Grande Chaumière and the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Nessi and fellow students spent numerous nights over the years with many of Valtat's esteemed contemporaries, such as Andre Lhote, Moise Kissling and Foujita at the renowned café Montparnasse.
